Women 4XI vs Tavistock 2XI

Its was a slightly chilly day at Lipson as we arrived at the pitch. We warmed up and practiced some short corners so that we would know what to do in a match situation.

The first half went well with Abbie, Ruby, Bella, Charlotte and Liv playing the ball in the middle and really playing well on the attack. There was loads of play in the attacking half and lots of possession from OC.

It was looking very optimistic from the back but about half way through the first half saw Tavistock up their game and in short succession they managed to score 2 goals; 1 from a short corner and the other from a good shot on goal.

We didn't give up and shortly after we got a few opportunities in the attacking D and Neve positioned herself next to the post with loads of space and just tapped it in. Taking the half time score to 2-1

Half Time talk was positive... we were in a very different place from last week against the same team and we just needed to remind ourselves to pick up players in the D. Unfortunately Vicky who was strong in defence took a tumble in the first half and her already sore knee was too bad to carry on into the 2nd half.

Our second half took us a little time to find our footing with everyone pushing back to cover tha hole that Vicky left. We Had Poppy and Blanche on the wings and Hannah and Aimee at the back.

Tavistock were really determined and they had a run of goals where our defence was too far up the pitch and their attackers outnumbered us 2:1 very time. After a couple of unlucky shorts they were suddenly up 5-1. There was one goal that was very scrappy from Tavistock and we all thought Emma had saved it but one of them managed to slip it through her padding.

Despite being 5-1 down we set our sights on not letting the goal difference get any higher. Shortly before the end of the game, with 2 minutes to go Ruby, Poppy, Lana, Abbie and Neve all made a break for it and got a short corner which looked like it wasnt goingbti concede but Abbie played a blinder and put it past their keeper, taking the final score to 5-2.

Everyone played so well but joint player went to Poppy, Neve and Abbie.
