Eleven intrepid players travelled down to Camborne, waved off by their skipper Tom "Sick note" Langrishe.
With several players missing the team welcomed back stalwart defender Tom Hunt and saw Sam Wilson return to the team as a forward. The long journey down gave ample opportunity to discuss team formations and tactics.
The game started at a high tempo. The pace of Sam and Freddie up front supported by Reuben quickly caused problems for the Duchy defence. Duchy were in trouble and gave away a series of short corners.
The first short corner was dragged out by Reuben and completely missed the castle at the top. Fortunately, Mike "Dr. Octopus" Davison was able to fish the ball out of nowhere, take it into the D and score.
Another short corner quickly followed. Reuben dialled in his mental scope and the short corner fizzed out to the top of the D. A little 1-2 and Mike was back on the score sheet again.
The game then got a bit fractious. Ben and one of the Duchy boys decided it would be better to start their own personal vendetta. It became a game of who could get sent off first. Never one to duck a challenge Ben won. During his little rest the defence soaked up several short corners without conceding. No sooner had Ben returned to the pitch and the vendetta restarted. This time the Duchy player went off for a little rest.
OC finished the half strong. Sam was at his athletic best beating several players before scoring his first goal for the 2XI
Half time Duchy 2XI 0 - 3 OC 2XI
Duchy raised their game in the second half and both teams seemed to cancel each other out.
Towards the back end of the half, OC won yet another short corner. This saw a variation with the ball slipped to Freddie. A miscued shot saw the ball bobble towards goal. Before the keeper could react Reuben pounced to put a 4th goal on the score sheet.
The only disappointment for the team was not keeping a clean sheet. With less than 10mins to go, Bev was adjudged to have committed a foul on the edge of the D, despite winning the ball. Rather than getting on with the job at hand and defending the free hit he decided to debate it with the umpire. The Duchy player wasn't going to wait around. Duchy were finally on the score sheet.
Not to be outdone OC went back up the other end and won another short corner. Freddie decided he didn't want the ball going to him again but Sam leapt at the opportunity. The ball was slipped to him and it was quickly despatched like a seasoned professional.
