4XI vs University of Plymouth 2

4XI vs University of Plymouth 2

A moist October afternoon greeted the teams for the last game in the Saturday fixture list. Plymouth University in their dark blue and white and Ocean City resplendent in their new orange & blue.

The home team started strongly pressing and probing for the first 10 minutes, Joe Easterbrook making several forays down the wing. Sadly, the hard work failed to lead to success. University then broke down their right flank. A speculative ball bounced in, evaded the defence and their tall centre forward pounced slamming the ball past Codie in goal.

Ocean City regrouped and continued where they had left off. Sam Wilson made his debut at right back in a composed performance that belied his 14 years.

The pressure told and eventually OC won a penalty corner. Up stepped Salman to the top of the D. The plan of a strike to the bottom corner didn't happen. Instead a loopy drag flick cleared the keeper and dropped into the net. Maybe something was lost in translation but who cares it was a goal.

Half time 1-1

The game continued where it had left off in the first half. Despite their best efforts Paul Marchant held off Uni's tall centre forward. When the defence was breached Codie stepped forward in goal and plugged the gaps, earning himself joint Man of the match with Sam. Snoop decided the game was too easy and decided to have a 2minute rest after a robust challenge on a Uni player.

University probably had the best of the possession but Reuben and Freddie up front for OC caused them many a scare. OC almost stole it at the end when Martin Freeman narrowly missed connecting cleanly with a cross in front of goal.

Full time: 1-1

Man: Codie and Sam

Dog: Gareth
