It was an early and cold meet at Coypool to start the day off. The duo that would later be dubbed “the hungovers” rocked up feeling a little worse for wear, with Kat asking “is it a Chanel morning Michelle?” Before we’d even left Coypool, Michelle had thrown up for the first time. Tori was a whole 3 minutes late and even though we still left ahead of schedule, it did earn her a few preemptive donkey votes.
After being locked out of the changing rooms and pitch for most of the time before the game (in which time the team changed on the grass), the game got underway.
It was a slow start from Ocean City as we adjusted to a couple of tweaks in positions. Despite hard work from the defence, Torbay went 1-0 up.
We kept our heads up and worked hard. We managed to level with a fantastic goal from Dee, who was one on one with the keeper after Kat was taken out.
Despite the hangover, Helen’s strikes were no less powerful than usual and one particularly strong hit left a Torbay player’s finger in a bad way! We had a few opportunities in the first half but Torbay managed to clear them. We went into half time level at 1-1.
After team talks (and another tactical chunder from Michelle), we went out into the second half with some renewed energy. However, a Torbay hit took a deflection and they went 2-1 up.
It was a tough second half and a physical game. Torbay had some quick players that kept us on our toes and made us work hard. And just when we needed it, we were awarded a penalty flick. Tori stepped up and scored, making it look easy! (We were never in doubt).
It ended 2-2. It was a hard game but lots of positives to take away.
There were donkey votes for The Hungovers, Tori and Jo.
But the winner was… Michelle!
Reasons included… being hungover, throwing up three times, chucking smoothie over her phone, dropping curry down her front.
Also she was planning to head to Tavistock for our home game next weekend…
Player votes went to Anna, Kirstin, Alfie, Tori, Helen and Hattie. But the winner was… Dee! For playing an excellent game and scoring a fantastic goal.
We go again next week 👏
