Women 1XI vs Tavistock 1

I knew this day was going to come I just apologise for the lack of details from the game seeing as I not long found it was my turn and I cannot remember for the life of me most of what happened today.

So here we go!

On a disgustingly cold morning we arrived at marjons. I wish I could say ready and raring to go but I needed to chug my Alfie-sized red bull to get me to even pay the slightest bit of attention(apologies for the massive red flag before we even got onto to the pitch).

With a combination of sleep deprivation, covid, and an overwhelming amount of dry robes we got warmed up and ready to go. As for the game itself it’s bold of you that I can remember much. Everyone always says it must be great as a keeper to be at the back and watch the game and I will usually agree but this week I’m in need of reminding. We started off very strong in the first 10 minutes but after conceding a short corner we ended up 1-0 down. Nevermind. Collect ourselves and go again. We continued to attack well and the our press looming strong we had some good passages despite their onslaught of shorts which felt like they were never ending we didn’t concede another. That was until they managed to break through to make it 2.

We go into half time 2 down and after a rousing talk from Hussey we go back in just like we started. We had a lot of good chances and really began to break them down when finally a lovely ball across the D falls to El Capitan Kat who easily slots it away to make it 2-1.

A from a good amount of hasty defensive play and pressure comes a breakdown where Kirsten’s temper gets the better of her to earn her a yellow card and today’s acknowledgment as donkey. Despite Tori’s best efforts to earn her the title for ever so gracefully flying over the fence to retrieve the ball. Player goes to Danni for putting in one hell of a shift wherever she was put on the pitch but props to everyone for keeping relatively cool in an intense game today. We’ll have them next time!
