Women 2XI vs Dart 2

It seems that Dart always bring the rain with them to Marjons, as we turned up to play their 2s in similar conditions to when we played their 1s a few weeks back. 

A little bit of a different team came together today, with a few out injured (get well soon Jen!), a couple with other commitments (a baby shower, really Emily? 🙄) and a big call up for Anna Hind 🏑 

But, we didn’t let the weather or the changes in line up affect us, as we came away from the game with a fab 2-0 win! 

In usual OCHC W2s fashion, we started the game a little slowly, inviting Dart to pressure our goal. However some amazing saves from cup game MoM Vicky and some impressive defensive work from H, Tara (can we keep her?! 🙏🏼), Tilly and particularly Dodds (yes I’m shocked too 😉) kept it level at 0-0. 

It didn’t take too long for us to settle in, and a breakaway which was well worked by Kate and superstar forward Lucy resulted in Brooke poaching Erin’s goal. 1-0 at half time despite a few last minute short corners for Dart. 

Second half we started the way we finished the first. Some great link up play right across the pitch and lovely work from our forwards creating runs (little “Long” legs Leylia) and chances. Again, the defence was steady in the second half and some more great saves from Vicky kept us 1 up. Late in the half, pressure from OC on the Dart D resulted in our first short corner of the game. Injected by Libby to Debs at the top of the D and effortlessly converted by Debs (no matter how hard Libby tried to steal it! 😂) to put us 2-0 up! 

We soaked up the pressure for the final minutes, and when the final whistle blew we’d finally secured our second win of the season. Great work across the field, and MoM was a hard one this week, shown by a 3 way tie between Lucy, Libby and Dodds.  

Donkey went to “Denide” Dodds for not realising the hot dog buns were pre-sliced 🤣🌭
