Well, I think even ducks wouldn’t have been too happy with the weather this morning! We started the match with 2 minutes silence in the rain and then the pressure was on!
Our backs, Lyndsey Gribble, Sarah Gray and Lorri Rickard, all did great jobs, likewise our midfielders, Amber Sanders, Olivia Ellard and Charlotte Spreckley. Ava Swain made masses of great saves but we still couldn’t stop No52 (Erin) and No3 (Poppy) from scoring 5 goals. The forwards, Olivia West, Kayleigh Easton and Anna v B made the most of the many breaks we had but nothing got past the Tavistock goalie alas! The score does not really reflect on the great game we had.
Our sub, Kath v B, kindly helped Emma Baker with umpiring her first ever match…. we can’t thank her enough for coming out of goal to do this! Thanks must also be given to Simon West for controlling the game….much appreciated.
MOM votes went to Olivia x 2, Lorri, and Anna but this week the winner was Ava.
The Tavistock Captain came over afterwards to thank us for such a nice match. NB. she plays for England in the over 70s team. Thanks to my team and the higher players who came to help us for another well played match in the true spirit of Sunday hockey. 👍🙂🏑👏🏾
